Schools and Colleges


The Lewisville Independent School District prides itself on its long-standing tradition of educational excellence. LISD has 63 schools receiving a “Met Standard” rating by the Texas Education Agency. Families move into LISD because of the commitment that the District has toward student success. LISD also has six National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, which is the highest designation a school can earn by the United States Department of Education. Encompassing 127-square miles, LISD serves all of or portions of thirteen municipalities including Argyle, Carrollton, Coppell, Copper Canyon, Double Oak, Flower Mound, Frisco, Grapevine, Highland Village, Hebron, Lewisville, Plano and The Colony.

Founders Classical Academy of Lewisville offers a rigorous classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, cultivating intellectual excellence, wisdom, and virtue. Classical schools take an approach to education characterized by a traditional liberal arts and sciences curriculum and pedagogy, and an orientation towards truth, beauty, and goodness that aims to cultivate wise and virtuous citizens.

iSchool High of Lewisville Entrepreneurial Academy is committed to the individual success of each student. A public high school system designed to provide diverse opportunities and challenges. Authentic learning demands that students connect what they learn with their real world. This approach results in learning that goes beyond typical education and engages students in life-changing pursuits. Integrating project-based elements into the classroom, and dedicating portions of each day for real-world learning gives students the most effective opportunity to grow and develop as a young adult.

Premier High School - Lewisville offers students the opportunity to earn a diploma away from the overcrowded high school setting. Some students need a new opportunity, while others seek an individualized educational approach that is not offered by traditional schools. Whether a student has fallen behind or simply wants to get ahead, our true learner-based environment program is designed to ensure that they learn and succeed.

The STEM Academy of Lewisville offers maximum opportunity to learn effectively while maintaining the most rigorous grading standards in education. Teachers engage with each learner to provide 21st Century learning through a classical curriculum. The primary element of success at The STEM Academy is the relationship developed between students and educators. The staff is highly motivated, directly engaged, and personally involved. STEM integrates college-like studies into a system designed to familiarize students with a university setting.

Willow Bend Academy is a private middle and high school where students receive face-to-face individual instruction from our highly qualified, caring faculty, with custom tailored curriculum that challenges each student according to his/her ability and interests. Students progress as they demonstrate mastery, so highly ambitious students may graduate early. Students have been accepted to major universities, local community colleges and post-secondary programs. Others are serving as upright citizens, first responders and as valuable members of our country’s military.

Winfree Academy Charter School, delivers a real alternative that meets the needs of today's students. The school day is highly focused on academics with a student-driven environment.  Students who wish to accelerate their graduation date are able to finish high school courses faster than they can in traditional public high schools. Students also come to Winfree to recover lost credits and skills.  The individually-paced nature of the students' work day allows students to learn at their own pace without being in competition with their peers. However, at the same time, our highly-qualified dedicated team of teachers and administrators help students at all levels. 

Higher Education

The North Texas Central College established in 1924 under the leadership of Texas community college pioneer Randolph Lee Clark, North Central Texas College is the oldest continuously operating public two-year college in the state. From its roots as a small, rural "junior" college — an extension of the local public schools actually — NCTC has grown and matured into a comprehensive, full-service community college of truly regional scope, serving students from six major campuses located across its service area.

Texas Woman's University is a public university that occupies a notable position in higher education as the nation’s largest university primarily for women. Its campuses in Denton, Dallas and Houston are joined by an e-learning campus offering innovative online degree programs in business, education and general studies.

The University of North Texas, is a public university located in Denton.  Students can choose from over 97 bachelor's degrees, 82 master's degrees or 35 doctoral degree programs.  Faculty leadership in teaching, research, creative activities, performance and service activities has created national and international reputations for excellence for a number of academic programs within the university's 12 schools and colleges.
