Home MenuCustomer Service Inspections
Texas law requires an inspection of a private water-distribution system (the portion on the owner’s side of the water meter) whenever there is new construction, a major modification to the existing water system, when certain modifications are being made to the site, or when the City of Lewisville believes that a cross-connection or other contamination hazard exists.
These inspections are called Customer Service Inspections (CSI), and their purpose is to ensure the water is safe to drink by identifying the presence of potential sources of contamination or illegal lead plumbing materials.
Effective September 1, 2021, Customer Service Inspections are to be performed by a third-party organization or individual that is registered with the City of Lewisville as a Customer Service Inspection contractor. To be eligible for registration, a person must carry a water supply protection specialist endorsement by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) or have a customer service inspector license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
