Lewisville residents can recycle electronics locally at the Residential Convenience Center by appointment only.

Appointments are available:
Wednesday and Friday, 9-11 a.m., one car per appointment block and reservations blocks are for 10 minutes

Monthly on one Saturday per month (please check monthly appointment sign up for date), 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., four cars per appointment block and reservations blocks are for 10 minutes

The Residential Convenience Center is open only to residents living within the city limits of Lewisville. To make an appointment and see what items are accepted please visit the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) webpage. 

Residents are also encouraged to contact local retailers who sell computer equipment and televisions as well as manufacturers on the TCEQ lists to request recycling options are made available locally for their products.

The City holds monthly drop-off collection events for Household Hazardous Waste and electronics products at the Residential Convenience Center, 330 Jones Street. Only Lewisville residents are eligible to participate, and residents must present their valid driver's license with Lewisville address to gain access.  For more information about this program, please visit our Hazardous Household Waste Page.

Appliances are mostly metal and it is recommended they are recycled locally instead of being placed in the landfill. There are metal recyclers in Lewisville that accept drop offs. They can be found on our recycling page under the "recycling resources" tab.

Because of laws regulating Freon, Republic Services will not pick up your refrigerator unless it has been tagged “freon removed” by a certified technician. Appliance repair shops offer this service. You will have to check the Yellow Pages or Google to find a certified appliance technician to do the Freon removal. Once the freon has been properly removed and the refrigerator tagged, Republic Services will pick it up as bulk waste. But remember -- it is better to recycle appliances than to send them to the landfill.

If you have a large volume of papers that need shredding, you will have to use a shredding service. Commercial services are often available at office supply stores. The City no longer offers shred days. Shredded paper is NOT accepted in the curbside recycling.

City recycling drop-off sites can be used by residents and small businesses to recycle various materials if they have more to recycle more than will fit in their carts (i.e. items that are too large for your curbside recycling cart or large amounts of cardboard). All of the materials accepted in curbside recycling carts can also be put into the drop-off recycling dumpsters.

Per TCEQ guidance, needles and sharps should be disposed of in a hard plastic or metal container with a tightly secured lid. The container should be labeled "Syringes," "Sharps," or "Needles." When the container is full, seal and reinforce lid with heavy-duty tape. Dispose of sealed container in household trash.

All containers should be empty, clean, and dry before recycling. They don't need to be perfect, but if there is food residue, give it a quick rinse! This reduces contamination (recyclable items that become no longer recyclable), which increases the value of the items to be recycled.

Residential recycling service providers stipulate what items can be recycled (some providers will put a label on the recycling cart with the items that can be accepted).

In general, plastic bags, plastic wrappers, and flexible plastic packaging are too thin to be recycled with items like plastic bottles and jugs. You can reuse them in your home or return them to your local grocer for recycling.

Your trash, recycling and bulky waste are all picked up on the same day. It must be set out by 7 a.m. on the collection day to ensure pickup. Pick up days for homes is determined by your address. If you live in a home, you can lookup your trash/recycling/bulky pickup day here.

Republic recycling carts are green and the Republic trash carts are Blue.

The only holidays that affect pickup are Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. Service is pushed back one day i.e. If Christmas falls on a Monday, then houses normally serviced Monday are serviced Tuesday, Tuesday houses are serviced Wednesday, etc.

Lewisville residents with Republic as their curbside trash provider have the benefit of two free dumping privileges per month at the Camelot Landfill located at 580 Huffines Boulevard.

Solid waste CANNOT be as a result of commercial activity by the resident. Both landfills have the right to refuse any loads.

To access either landfill, residents must present their current water bill and driver’s license with matching address. All loads brought to the landfill must be securely covered to prevent littering or fees will be charged.

Animal carcasses should not be placed out for trash collection. Residents must contact the City’s Animal Services Division at 972.219.3478 for proper disposal of animal carcasses.

Republic Services customers age 65 and older can apply for a 20 percent discount on their monthly base service charge. Eligibility is based on the age of the person listed on the bill. The application form is available on the city website (cityoflewisville.com) on the Trash Services page.
