Need some help installing a new car seat? Not sure if your child is in the right one for his/her size?

Call 972.219.3668 to schedule an appointment at one of our monthly Child Safety Seat Clinics. Our certified technicians will review your child's safety seat, install it if necessary and answer any questions you may have.

This free service takes place on the last Monday of the month. You do not need to live or work in Lewisville to take advantage of this service, but appointments are required. Register, then bring your car seat and child, if you can.

* Due to the construction of the new Tittle McFadden Public Safety Building, Child Safety Seat Clinics will take place at a new location at Lewisville Fire Station 3, 500 W. Round Grove Rd.

The Lewisville Police Department is working with LISD Choices program to provide residents with a safe way to dispose of expired, unused, unsafe, or unneeded medication.

This program aims to reduce the risk of prescription drug abuse and increase awareness of this critical public health issue. Volunteers and police officers will be present to accept, secure, and deliver the medications to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for proper disposal. No syringes, sharp objects, or inhalers will be accepted.

This is an excellent opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted, unused prescription drugs.

The event is scheduled twice a year once in April and again in October or check the DEA Take Back Day page for all the listed locations and dates for drop-off.

Neighborhood Watch is a program designed to encourage neighbors to help neighbors. Know your neighbors and band together to report unusual activity. Neighborhood Watch programs serve many purposes. They provide a networking structure for neighbors to communicate with each other, and in so doing, create a safer neighborhood. A forum is provided through scheduled meetings where citizens can be educated about crime trends, patterns, and prevention tips. It also allows citizens to educate the Police Department and the City of Lewisville as to those areas of concern that they feel should be addressed by the City.

Many neighbors have taken to the internet for sharing information about neighborhoods, using apps like Neighbors App (by Ring), nextdoor, and Facebook has a variety of pages and groups for information sharing.

Crime Prevention Services

The Lewisville Police Department is committed to proactive community policing, and crime prevention is a cornerstone of that mission. Our Neighborhood Resource Officers (N.R.O.s) are Certified Crime Prevention Specialists trained to assist residents, businesses, and organizations in reducing the risk of crime through education, evaluation, and partnership.

What Crime Prevention Specialists Do

Each N.R.O. is certified in crime prevention techniques and strategies. Their role goes beyond enforcement, they serve as resources for the community, offering tools and guidance to help deter criminal activity before it occurs.

How N.R.O.s Can Help

1. Crime Prevention Site Surveys
N.R.O.s conduct on-site assessments of homes, businesses, schools, and places of worship. These surveys identify potential security vulnerabilities and provide practical recommendations to reduce risk. This can include guidance on lighting, surveillance, landscaping, locks, and overall design.

2. Customized Training and Education
Officers are available to provide presentations and training on a range of crime prevention topics including:

• Residential and business security

• Personal safety and situational awareness

• Shoplifting and employee theft prevention

• Fraud and scam awareness

• Burglary deterrence

3. Crime Prevention Tips and Resources
Whether through community meetings, one-on-one consultations, or digital resources, N.R.O.s provide helpful tips and materials to educate the public on how to stay safe and vigilant.

Requesting an N.R.O.

The N.R.O. Unit is our dedicated Community Resource Unit and is available to support public education and community involvement efforts. You can request an officer for:

• Neighborhood events and activities

• School functions or career days

• Safety presentations or crime prevention training

• Group tours of the police department

To request an N.R.O. for your event or training session, please complete the Request an Officer Form.
