When to call 9-1-1:
Call 9-1-1 for emergencies that require an immediate police, fire, or medical response, including:- Crimes in progress
- Fires or smoke conditions
- Serious medical emergencies
- Traffic crashes with injuries
- Situations where someone's safety is at risk
If you are unsure whether it is an emergency, call 9-1-1. Our trained Telecommunicators will quickly asses the situation and connect you with the appropriate help.
For non-emergency police assistance, please call the non-emergency line: 972.219.3640.
What Happens When You Call 9-1-1?
- Your call is answered by a trained Telecommunicator
- We confirm your location to ensure help is sent to the correct address - even if disconnected
- You will be asked specific questions about to determine the nature and priority of the emergency
- Units are dispatched while we remain on the line when necessary. For medical emergencies, we may provide life-saving instructions until responders arrive.
Text-to-9-1-1
Lewisville supports Text-to-9-1-1. If you are unable to safely make a voice call:- Send a text message to 9-1-1
- Include your location and the nature of the emergency
- Keep messages brief and answer all questions promptly
Whenever possible, voice calls are still preferred for faster information exchange.
Property crime reports are encouraged to be filed online or by calling 972.219.3640, but an officer will respond if requested.
