The Lewisville Fire Department has five front line ambulances and three reserve ambulances providing advanced life support care. On average, the Fire Department responds to over 14,500 calls for service each yar. Of those, about 65% are medical in nature.

Each ambulance carries the Texas Department of Health Certification as a Mobile Intensive Care Unit. In fact, there are over 160 certified paramedics and 14 EMTs with the Lewisville Fire Department. All new EMTs hired into the dept go to paramedic school in their first few years. This means that whether a fire truck or an ambulance is sent to a scene for a medical emergency, the patient will receive the same level of care.

The EMS Division is overseen by EMS Division Chief Brandon Thetford. This includes oversight of the EMT-Basics, Paramedics, and EMS licenses and credentials. He also is the Designated Infection Control Officer for the City of Lewisville. The Lewisville Fire Department operates under the medical direction of Stewart Coffman, MD.

Ambulance Billing/Inquiries

The Lewisville Fire Department partners with Emergicon for all ambulance billing services. If you have questions about an ambulance bill, payment, insurance claim, or account balance, please contact Emergicon directly at 972-602-2060. It is important to reach out to Emergicon, as the Lewisville Fire Department does not have access to ambulance billing records and cannot provide billing information or assistance.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Record Requests 

EMS Records maintained by the Lewisville Fire Department are not considered Public Record. The Lewisville Fire Department follows all applicable federal and state healthcare privacy laws regarding the release of protected health information (PHI).
