A public meeting for Valley 1, North Neighborhood, will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Garden Ridge Church of Christ, 102 North Garden Ridge Boulevard. The meeting will include a brief presentation and attendees can drop by anytime during the two-hour meeting.

The project consultant will discuss the street reconstruction project, answer questions, and collect information from residents regarding their property.

What is the need for this project?
This project addresses infrastructure needs in the Lewisville Valley area. The local streets and alleys are aging – some with old asphalt pavement – and require replacement. Underground water and sewer lines are also aged and will be replaced or up-sized to improve reliability and meet modern regulations.. Overall, the goal is to enhance safety, utility service, and street conditions while preserving the neighborhood’s character (e.g. maintaining similar street widths where right- of-way is limited).

How is the project funded?
The project is being financed through City of Lewisville capital funds, including voter-approved bonds. Initial design and preparatory work for Valley 1 were funded by the 2015 bond program, and the City plans to allocate approximately $11.3 million in new General Obligation bond funding (Proposition D of a 2024 bond election) to cover the bulk of Valley 1 construction costs. Additional support comes from the city’s utility funds (about $1.8 million earmarked for water and sewer upgrades) and other sources as needed.

What is the project schedule?
As of mid 2026, the project is in the design development phase. City engineers and consultants are performing surveys and analysis of existing street conditions, utilities, and drainage. Public involvement meetings will be held in the summer and fall to introduce the project and gather resident comments and concerns. Upcoming steps include completing final design documents by early 2028, acquiring any necessary City Council authorization for construction contracts, and securing any remaining funding. Once a contractor is selected, additional public meetings will be held before work starts to discuss the timeline and address last-minute questions. The City will also provide regular updates throughout construction so the community stays informed of progress.

What are anticipated impacts during construction?
When construction does begin, temporary disruptions will occur, but the City will work to minimize impacts on residents.

• Traffic and Access: Road work will be phased to maintain local access, such as one side of a street may be rebuilt at a time so that the other side can remain open for traffic. Short-term detours or partial street closures will be needed, but driveway access for residents, emergency vehicles, and services (trash collection, mail delivery, etc.) will be maintained through careful scheduling and coordination.
• Utilities: Water and sewer service interruptions should be infrequent and brief; any planned outages will be announced in advance.
• Property Features: Features like yards, fences, and special mailboxes near the street will be protected or restored. The city will coordinate individually with owners on any required adjustments.
• Construction Nuisances: Expect typical construction noise, dust, and equipment in the area during active work hours. The City will enforce measures to control dust and debris, and work hours will follow city noise ordinances.
