Professional Chalk Artists featured at ColorPalooza 2026.

Henry Darnell

• Henry is a professional artist working in visual effects and animated films for more than 25 years. He has created miniatures, puppets and props for film, television, theme parks and live performances. His film credits include Bettlejuice, The Book of Life, Castaway and The Polar Express, plus many, many more.
• Henry believes that art is a life long pursuit. “I want to create art every day. Street painting offers a unique opportunity create art live for the public. It is amazing to watch an artist work through their process and see their passion take form as art.”

Megan Dill

• Megan is a Dallas-born, Denton-based artist with an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Texas Tech University - and a lifelong obsession with the Great Masters, contemporary culture and all things wonderfully strange.
• Art has always been her way of seeing the word - technically precise, but delightfully off-kilter. Her background spans a wide variety of 2D fine art skills, from painting and printmaking to illustration and beyond. She draws heavily from contemporary culture - its humor, its imagery, its contradictions - and filters it through the lens of art history to create something that feels both familiar and unexpected.
• Chalk art is where those influences come together in the most joyful way. There's something special about taking the timeless techniques and compositions of the Great Masters and reinterpreting them on pavement, in full view of anyone passing by. It's communal, spontaneous and alive in a way that traditional gallery work rarely gets to be. "Because the best art - event the kind that washes away - has a way of sticking with you."

Carrie Dziabczenko

• Carrie is a Fort Worth-based artist who has been creating large-scale chalk murals since 2013. After winning various awards in art throughout childhood and illustrating her high school newsletter, she graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English/Technical Writing and a minor in Psychology.  When Carrie isn't creating art, she keeps busy with her family, her cats, her dog, gardening, collecting pretty rocks and minerals, being a weather nerd, and reading voraciously.
• Carrie has her work on display in private collections across the country, and has appeared on Fox 4 Dallas News and WFAA News 8. She has been a  returning featured artist at ColorPalooza since 2016, the West 7th Street Chalk Art Festival in Fort Worth from 2015-2020, and the Kerrville Texas Chalk Art Festival from 2018-2023.
• Carrie is recruiting and organizing the professional chalk artists at this year's ColorPalooza.

Carissa Nalley

• Dallas-based Carissa Nalley, aka Rissilient Art, is a full-time multidisciplinary artist specializing in an array of mediums. Her mediums of choice range from lapel pins, intricate stickers, vibrant jewelry, ink illustrations, acrylic paintings, and large scale chalk murals. Creating vibrant and detailed works, she loves capturing the essence of life! From portraits, landscapes, animals, plants and florals; you never know what you might get!
• She made her ColorPalooza debut in 2025, and also created a chalk art piece for the Castle Hills Easter Egg Hunt in 2020.

Jan Riggins

• Jan is an artist from Forth Worth. Her love of art started with watercolors, but once she discovered street art during COVID, her passion soon shifted and she now spends her time on the ground drawing or climbing up walls painting, exploring different textures, surfaces, and transparencies. Jan spends the majority of her time creating anamorphic (3D) street art pieces and trompe l'oeil murals that are fun and interactive.
• Jan participated in ColorPalooza from 2021-2024. The turtle art pictured here is from 2023.

Pete Taboada

• Pete Taboada is a visionary artist based in DFW. He has been creating professional chalk art at various events and festivals in the Dallas area for many years. Pete has been one of the pro artist at ColorPalooza since the festival's inception in 2016, showcasing his unique and imaginative chalk drawings.

• In addition to his chalk work, Taboada is an accomplished painter who sometimes incorporates crystals and gemstones into his acrylic canvases. He also enjoys live painting at group meditations and music events, and has art collectors worldwide.

Chalk Art Scholarship Contest presented by Lakeside Arts Foundation

Lewisville and Lewisville ISD junior and seniors are eligible to participate in a scholarship chalk art contest as part of Chalk This Way at ColorPalooza.

Students will be given a 6'x6' area of concrete and professional quality chalk to create a completed work of art in six hours. There is no entry fee for participating, but student artists are asked to submit an application and full-color sketch of their planned work.

Awards:

1. First Place - $1,200
2. Second Place - $700
3. Third Place - $500

Amateur Art Spotlight - $15

All ages are welcome to showcase their artistic skills at the Amateur Art Spotlight during ColorPalooza. Artists will be given a 6'x6' concrete area and chalk to create their design. Art must be family-friendly.

For 2026, only day-of-event registration is available; no advance registration. Cash and check accepted.
