The City Attorney is appointed by the City Council to be the legal advisor of, and attorney and counsel for, the city and all officers and departments thereof. Accordingly, the City Attorney does not provide legal advice to the public. The City Attorney's Office also oversees prosecutors in the Municipal Court.
Requests made for city records under the Public Information Act are initially processed individually by the department holding those records. For information on how to submit a Public Information request, please visit the Open Records Portal.
