The Park Dedication Ordinance plays an integral role in improving the quality of life for our residents. Council approved an update to that ordinance on July 2, 2018, ensuring parks are available to all residents as the City continues growing. The ordinance requires developers or builders to pay a Park Fee to be used to acquire park land and a Park Development Fee to develop park facilities with trails, playgrounds, fields, and other amenities. The intent is that the additional cost for parks should be paid for by the landowner, developers, or new homeowners who are responsible for creating the added demands on parks and facilities. The fees set will allow the current level of service, parkland per resident, to continue as new residents move in.
The fees are:
Park Fee - 3 acres of land per 100 dwelling units (or cash-in-lieu)
Park Development Fee - $1,000 per dwelling unit
