The Community Relations & Tourism Department operates in four divisions, all working together to facilitate effective two-way communications with the people who live, work and play in Lewisville and to offer those residents and visitors quality family-friendly leisure opportunities and events.

Community Relations

This division functions as the primary communication outlet for the city, using such outlets as enewsletters, City Cable LVTV, the city website, and the city’s presence on social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Also operating under the name Lewisville Convention and Visitors Bureau, this division works with local hotels and attractions to bring families and groups to Lewisville for overnight visits and to ensure that those visitors enjoy their time in Lewisville. This includes operating a Visitor Information Center in the administrative office of the MCL Grand. These activities are funded entirely through a Hotel-Motel Occupancy Tax (HOT ) designated by the state for tourism operations.

Special Events

This division manages all major citywide special events, including the popular Western Days festival, Holiday at the Hall activities, Sounds of Lewisville summer concert series, and the Old Town Jam held in conjunction with the Keep Tradition Alive firefighter bagpipes and drums symposium. These activities are funded through a combination of Hotel-Motel Occupancy Tax (HOT) designated by the state for tourism operations, and event sponsorships or revenue.

This division manages the city’s new multi-purpose arts center, the Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater, that opened in January 2011 in the heart of Old Town Lewisville. The facility operates year-round, bringing quality fine and performing arts to Lewisville. This division also works with the Arts Advisory Board (appointed by the City Council) to manage the city’s Arts Support Grant Program.
