The City of Lewisville is moving forward with a major expansion of the Prairie Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, a key investment to keep pace with the city's growth and ensure reliable service for residents and businesses for decades to come.

The City has awarded the construction contract to Crescent Constructors, an affiliate of Zachry Construction Corporation.

The project will increase the plant's capacity from 12 million to 16 million gallons per day, with a long-term goal of reaching 20 million gallons per day as Lewisville continues to grow

"As Lewisville continues to grow, investing in critical infrastructure is essential to maintaining the high level of service our residents and businesses depend on," said Aaron Russell, Director of Public Works. "The Prairie Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion is a strategic investment in our community's future, increasing system capacity, enhancing reliability, and ensuring we are prepared to meet the needs of a growing city for decades to come."

The plant will remain in full operation throughout construction, so work will be done in phases to minimize disruption to service. Completion is scheduled for late 2028.
