City to add convenience fee to electronic utility payments

starting April 1
Post Date:March 19, 2026

The City of Lewisville will implement a convenience fee to all electronic utility bill payments made by debit and credit card starting April 1.

Historically, the City has absorbed the costs of debit and credit card processing fees, but those fees total more than $750,000 each year, which could otherwise be utilized on the provision of utility programs and services.

Therefore, beginning April 1, the City will implement a 2.75% convenience fee for all utility bill debit and credit card payments made electronically. Fees for e-check payments are $0.45.

Payments made over the counter via debit/credit card, cash, check, or money order will not incur a service fee. Customers enrolled in ACH bank draft receive a $1.50 monthly bill credit.

Lewisville residents have the convenient option to enroll in automatic ACH bank draft for water bill payments and receive a $1.50 monthly credit. This service allows your monthly bill to be securely deducted directly from your bank account, helping you avoid convenience fees and ensure timely payments. If you would like to enroll in this service, please complete this ACH Bank Draft enrollment form.

For questions about payments, contact Utility Billing at 972.219.3440.
