In an effort to spread the word about animal adoption and to help these loving animals find fur-ever homes, the City of Lewisville will feature a Pet of the Week each week in this media packet, available for adoption at the Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, 995 E. Valley Ridge.

This week’s featured pet is Vino, a 4-year-old male American Staffordshire/Terrier mix. Vino was taken in by a resident who found him at their store. He has a tough exterior and can be vocal when he is nervous/scared but calms down with gentle reassurance and treats. He is cautious as he makes new friends.

He is vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, sterilized, and had flea treatment applied. He has tested positive for heartworms, but don't let that scare you away. Heartworm disease is very treatable, and Lewisville Animal Services will provide my heartworm treatment. Just click on his picture and follow the unique URL to begin an online adoption application. Once the application has been submitted, Lewisville Animal Services will call the applicant on or before the next business day. If approved, staff will counsel the potential adoption and will schedule an appointment for an in-person visit with Vesper.
