City earns national award for Lewisville 2025 vision plan
American Planning Association’s Gold Level Achievement Award
The City of Lewisville has earned the American Planning Association’s Gold Level Achievement Award for its implementation of the Lewisville 2025 vision plan.
The APA recognizes outstanding efforts nationwide in planning achievement and planning leadership. Award entries are evaluated on program originality and innovation, engagement, implementation and effectiveness, quality, and promotion of planning. Last October, this plan earned the Gold Level Achievement from the American Planning Association – Texas Chapter.
“The entire Lewisville community earned this award,” said Lewisville Planning Director Richard Luedke. "They should be very proud of the multitude of accomplishments that have been delivered due to the guidance provided by the Lewisville 2025 vision plan.”
Lewisville City Council unanimously adopted the Lewisville 2025 vision plan on July 14, 2014. It was developed during more than a year of public input and discussion that garnered hundreds of ideas and suggestions. That input was studied extensively by the Lewisville 2025 Committee, working with City staff and professional consultants. The resulting Lewisville 2025 plan sets a clear shared vision for the kind of community Lewisville wants to be when it turns 100 years old in 2025, and sets out dozens of action steps that can be taken to make that vision a reality.
“All aspects of the Lewisville community, from our residents and businesses to the City Council, boards and commissions and city staff, worked in unison to make the vision of the Lewisville 2025 plan a reality,” said Luedke.
Implementation of the Lewisville 2025 vision plan is an ongoing process with a single goal -- to make Lewisville a place that people choose to live, work and visit.
