It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing early this morning of Fire Chief Tim Tittle after a long and courageous fight against cancer. Chief Tittle served the Lewisville Fire Department for more than 40 years and leaves a legacy of unparalleled dedication and integrity. Lewisville has lost a good friend, and the community is a little bit lesser for his absence. Our thoughts are with the Tittle family as they grieve and with the fire services family as they strive daily to carry on the unequaled example of his life.

Living in the Metroplex makes it difficult to get hometown news on a daily basis, so the City of Lewisville is doing its best to keep you informed through several avenues.

This page will allow you to see what we send to the media, whether it makes it into print or not. The city publicizes projects, programs, achievements, safety tips, ordinances, Council actions, public notices, special events, and much, much more through News Releases.

The city also operates two Municipal Access cable channels, LVTV Prime and LVTV Leisure, available on the basic tier of the Spectrum and Frontier Communications cable systems. LVTV Prime (TW-16, VF-15) broadcasts programs and announcements with basic information about city events and operations, while LVTV Leisure (TW-96, VF-16) focuses on the parks and recreation field.

The Eric Smith Songwriting Challenge

Friday, Jan. 31
Post Date:January 10, 2020 10:27 a.m.

Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater will hold the Eric Smith Singer/Songwriter Challenge on Friday, Feb. 1, 7 p.m., at MCL Grand, 100 N. Charles Street.

Each challenge has a theme, and January’s participants are asked to write and perform songs on the theme of “mom,” “mama,” “ma,” “or whatever participants affectionately call their mother.

Participating songwriters may perform their songs on acoustic instruments (amplified acoustic guitars are okay) or a cappella. We encourage solo performances, but songwriters may have an accompanist, also playing an acoustic instrument. The exception to the acoustic instrument rule is keyboard or electric bass is allowed.

There are no prizes and only two rules: Songs must be written specifically for this challenge and must be debuted at the event. The challenge starts at 7 p.m., though we encourage performers to arrive by 6:45 p.m. to select a performance slot on the sign-up sheet. Invite friends and family to attend.

Located in the heart of historic downtown Lewisville, MCL Grand is the premier public arts facility in Southern Denton County. The 40,000-square-foot facility features a 296-seat proscenium theater, black box theater, dance recital hall, art gallery, five art classrooms and a large courtyard. Medical City Lewisville has a multi-year agreement with the city for naming rights at the center.

To reach MCL Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall.

For details about upcoming events, or rental information for the facility, please visit MCLGrand.com or call 972.219.8446.
