It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing early this morning of Fire Chief Tim Tittle after a long and courageous fight against cancer. Chief Tittle served the Lewisville Fire Department for more than 40 years and leaves a legacy of unparalleled dedication and integrity. Lewisville has lost a good friend, and the community is a little bit lesser for his absence. Our thoughts are with the Tittle family as they grieve and with the fire services family as they strive daily to carry on the unequaled example of his life.

The city also operates two Municipal Access cable channels, LVTV Prime and LVTV Leisure, available on the basic tier of the Spectrum and Frontier Communications cable systems. LVTV Prime (TW-16, VF-15) broadcasts programs and announcements with basic information about city events and operations, while LVTV Leisure (TW-96, VF-16) focuses on the parks and recreation field.

Lewisville Talks: Anousheh Ansari

The City of Lewisville is proud to present private space explorer Anousheh Ansari as the featured speaker of the Lewisville Talks – City Speaker Series, Thursday, Jan. 30, 7 p.m., Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

The Lewisville Talks - City Speaker Series brings national influencers to Lewisville to discuss current events, trends, and ideas that can enrich our lives and create a discussion forum for the future of communities, residents, and community leaders.

On Sept. 18, 2006, Ansari captured headlines around the world as the first female private space explorer. She earned a place in history as the fourth private explorer to visit space and the first astronaut of Iranian descent. Ansari is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder and chairman of Prodea Systems, a technology company working to unleash the power of the internet to all consumers and dramatically alter and simplify consumer’s digital living experience. She currently works to enable social entrepreneurs to bring about radical change globally, with organizations such as X Prize, ASHOKA and the PARSA Community Foundation, and through her public talks.

Ansari will do a meet-and-greet with audience members following the presentation. Concessions will be available for purchase in the lobby of the MCL Grand.

General Admission tickets are $15 for Adults, $5 Students (available for will-call pick-up only, IDs will be checked at the event), Tickets are available on MCLGrand.tix.com. $10 Lewisville and Castle Hills resident tickets can be purchased in person at MCL Grand during normal business hours. Must show valid driver’s license or utility bill to validate residency.

Located in the heart of historic downtown Lewisville, MCL Grand is the premier public arts facility in Southern Denton County. The 40,000-square-foot facility features a 296-seat proscenium theater, black box theater, dance recital hall, art gallery, five art classrooms and a large courtyard. Medical City Lewisville has a multi-year agreement with the city for naming rights at the center.

To reach MCL Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
