Living in the Metroplex makes it difficult to get hometown news on a daily basis, so the City of Lewisville is doing its best to keep you informed through several avenues.

This page will allow you to see what we send to the media, whether it makes it into print or not. The city publicizes projects, programs, achievements, safety tips, ordinances, Council actions, public notices, special events, and much, much more through News Releases.

The city also operates two Municipal Access cable channels, LVTV Prime and LVTV Leisure, available on the basic tier of the Time Warner and Verizon VFIOS cable systems. LVTV Prime (TW-16, VF-15) broadcasts programs and announcements with basic information about city events and operations, while LVTV Leisure (TW-96, VF-16) focuses on the parks and recreation field.

Grab a book and share new experiences with friends and family at the Lewisville Public Library, 1197 W. Main Street. The Library is open Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

AARP Tax Aide, For ages 50+ only

Library Computer Lab

This year, adults may sign up by phone or in-person at either the Lewisville Public Library, 1197 W. Main Street, or the Lewisville Senior Activity Center inside Music City Mall, 2401 S. Stemmons Freeway.

AARP volunteers will be providing free income tax assistance to those ages 50 and over. Assistance is available on basic 2018 income tax returns. Volunteers are not able to assist with returns containing rental properties, farming or business expenses. Other restrictions may apply. A limited number of appointments are available, and there are no wait-list appointments available. The Income Tax webpage has been updated on library.cityoflewisville.com.

 

Library After Dark: Game of Thrones
For adults ages 18 and over | Ticketed event
Friday, March 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m. (doors open 6:15-6:45 only)

Winter is here and we’re gearing up for the final season of Game of Thrones. Join us for an evening of GoT inspired activities including trivia, button making, and hatching your own dragon egg. You can even take your turn upon the Iron Throne. Enter the costume contest with your finest Westeros attire. Light refreshments will be provided. Free ticket is required. Tickets available now.

 

Friends of the Library Book Sale
March 22-24


· Friday, March 22, 5-7 p.m. *Pre-Sale -- $5 entry fee per person. Friends members and LISD employees enter for free.

· Saturday, March 23, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

· Sunday, March 24, 1-5 p.m.

Thousands of gently used books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and more are on sale! Items priced .25¢ to $5. Cash and check accepted. Proceeds benefit the Lewisville Public Library. The sale is held at the Lewisville Public Library, Glenmore Savage Community Room at 1197 W. Main Street, Lewisville 75067.

Sewing Topics: Patterns

Bring your own pattern and fabric, ask questions, and learn sewing techniques from a sewing expert. Space is limited. Registration is required. Visit or call the Adult Services Desk at 972.219.3779 to register.


Blender Basics
Wednesday, March 20, 6:30-8 p.m.
Ticket Needed | The Hive

Learn the basics of the 3D graphics software, Blender. Blender is a free, open-source program. Bring your own laptop with Blender installed, or use one provided by the Library in this interactive session. Ticket required. Space is limited. Free tickets are distributed from the Hive Service Desk on a first come, first served basis beginning 30 minutes before the class start time.


Digitization Demo: VHS
Saturday, March 23, 2-3 p.m.

Learn how to transfer your old VHS tapes to DVD or a digital file. Ticket required. Space is limited. Free tickets are distributed from the 2nd floor Adult Services Desk beginning 30 minutes before the class start time.
