Living in the Metroplex makes it difficult to get hometown news on a daily basis, so the City of Lewisville is doing its best to keep you informed through several avenues.

This page will allow you to see what we send to the media, whether it makes it into print or not. The city publicizes projects, programs, achievements, safety tips, ordinances, Council actions, public notices, special events, and much, much more through News Releases.

The city also operates two Municipal Access cable channels, LVTV Prime and LVTV Leisure, available on the basic tier of the Time Warner and Verizon VFIOS cable systems. LVTV Prime (TW-16, VF-15) broadcasts programs and announcements with basic information about city events and operations, while LVTV Leisure (TW-96, VF-16) focuses on the parks and recreation field.

Couch Potato to 5K

Post Date:January 19, 2018
The City of Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the 2018 It’s Time Texas! Community Challenge.

This challenge is a simple way for cities across Texas to show their commitment to healthy living. The challenge runs through Sunday, Mar. 4. Communities can earn points when individuals, businesses, schools and local officials make commitments to build healthier communities, exercise, eat healthy and track their progress throughout the program.

Register as a Lewisville participant in the challenge and show how you choose healthy living. Participation in this challenge can be as simple as: going for a walk in the park, working out at Lewisville recreation centers, buying fresh produce, preparing a healthy meal or anything else that proves an active and healthy lifestyle.

The Couch Potato to 5K training is part of a Community Challenge hosted by Lewisville Parks and Recreation in conjunction with It’s Time Texas. This program is geared to help individuals who are currently less active get up and move and designed to be a 10-week course and will gradually increase the physical activity each week. The program will begin January 27 with the first meeting and conclude with the participation in the Denton County Dash 5K Walk/Run on April 7. Information and registration packets can be picked up at either Memorial Park Recreation Center, Fredrick P. Herring Recreation Center.
