  • Introduction: Public workshop

The City of Lewisville has gathered a dynamic group of exciting and creative speakers to explore the choices and opportunities ahead for the Lewisville community at the Touchpoint Event, Wednesday, Jan. 29, 6-9 p.m., at Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

Lewisville and Castle Hills residents are encouraged to participate in this one-of-a-kind event that will help shape the future of Lewisville. The City is undertaking an aggressive review of the Lewisville 2025 vision plan objectives to gauge progress, prioritize remaining work to be done, and engage residents as this community vision is extended by 10 years, evolving into the Lewisville 2035 vision plan.

The Future Choices series will build on the presentation “Creating Our Future” by keynote speaker Patrick Ibarra. Each Future Choices speaker brings a special blend of experience and innovation to the choices Lewisville must consider. Their short and compelling presentations will propose options for Lewisville’s best possible future.

Here’s the Future Choices line-up and a brief look at the speakers’ topics:
  • Brandon Palankar, 3BL Strategies - Revitalization and new community design to create walkable and economically successful neighborhoods.
  • Ed Rincon, Rincon & Associates - The role of diverse communities in shaping economic opportunities and community character.
  • Katherine Wagner, Business Council for the Arts - The contribution of arts and culture to a vital and thriving future.
  • George Burmeister, Colorado Energy Group - Opportunities to create a sustainable community that is desirable to businesses and healthy for residents.
  • Bud Melton, Halff Associates - Investment in the mobility choices of the future.
  • Robert Sheets, Westside Baptist Church - Partnerships with the faith community to shape Lewisville’s future.

Participants in the Touchpoint event will respond to the speakers’ ideas during an interactive dialogue after the presentations.

This Touchpoint event will be highly creative and interactive. There will be an open house 2-6 p.m. in the lobby and hallways of MCL Grand where residents can come and go to see exhibits about the impacts of the Lewisville 2025 vision plan and about important future trends. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on the original nine Big Moves and three new strategic moves.

The Lewisville Public Library and Parks & Recreation Department have something special in store for children at this event. From 4:30 to 6 p.m., they’ll bring the city-created “Marco’s Big Move” children’s book to life. In this special setting, children and parents will be able to draw out and color their vision of future Lewisville on specially created art trading cards from David Mask. The finished art trading cards will be put on display in the hallway for everyone to see.

Computer stations will be set up in the lobby for attendees to use the online portal to give their feedback on the progress of the nine Big Moves, and what the city can do to prepare for and adapt to emerging trends and anticipated changes. That online portal can be found at cityoflewisville.com/touchpoint.

The first 100 people signing in at the 6 p.m. workshop will receive a free Lewisville 2025 t-shirt. Light snacks and cash bar available from 4:30-8:30 p.m.
