The Special Events division manages all major citywide special events, including the popular Western Days festival, Holiday Stroll, Sounds of Lewisville summer concert series, and Keeping Tradition Alive Jam Session with firefighter bagpipes and drum corps. These activities are funded through a combination of Hotel-Motel Occupancy Tax (HOT) designated by the state for tourism operations, and event sponsorships or revenue.

Update as of May 5, 2020: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 disease outbreak, the uncertainty of when restrictions will be lifted on large-scale gatherings, and major budgetary concerns, the City of Lewisville is cancelling all city-sponsored public events through late September.

Co-Producers Vivid Vita Events and City of Lewisville present Fiesta Charra on Saturday, May 30, 4-10 p.m., at Lewisville Rodeo Arena.

This free, family-friendly event will feature several activities of a traditional Charreada, which is like a rodeo and practiced in Mexico. A full list of activities and the music headliners will be announced in 2020.

Alcoholic beverages will be sold, and no outside food or drink will be allowed on the premises except for snacks and drinks for toddlers or special dietary restrictions. Glass containers, skateboards, bicycles, personal transport vehicles, and offensive or objectionable clothing are not allowed. Pets will be allowed inside the fairgrounds if they remain on a leash and their owner picks up after them. However, pets are not allowed on the shuttle buses.
