6th annual MCL Grand Songwriting Workshop with The Flyin' A's

This year’s facilitators are the husband-and-wife duo of Hilary Claire and Stuart Adamson—better known as The Flyin’ A’s. Hilary and Scott have been writing and performing together for over a decade, and both writing and performing on their own well before then.

Topics of the workshop will include:

  • Writing from the heart
  • Tricks to breaking through writer’s block
  • Piano, guitar and mandolin...tricks to easy writing and inspiration on multiple instruments
  • How to write a Nashville style chord chart
  • Solo writing and Co-writing - both worlds can work
  • Nashville - how to pitch a song, make a demo and what they are looking for Ex: Tempos, song length and how to get your song to the right person
  • Publishing and copyrighting your music made easy
  • Performance technique
  • Ways to get your music heard through social media and online platforms

The workshop time is 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m and is limited to 20 people. Tickets are $50 per person and will include lunch and two tickets to The Flyin’ A’s Black Box Songwriter Series Concert on Sunday, April 8, 6:30 p.m. To purchase tickets visit

Those participating in the workshop will help guide which topics are focused on most so each participant will get the most out of the workshop. In addition, there will be time for breakout sessions and one on one time for participants with the facilitators.
