Lewisville Visitor Information Center Open House
- Date: September 07, 2017 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Introduction: Grand Opening of the new Lewisville Visitor Information Center.
The public is invited to attend the grand opening of the new Lewisville Visitor Information Center on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 3-6 p.m.
This Visitor Information Center is the gateway to historic Old Town Lewisville on Main Street. This is a come-and-go event, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Guests can tour the facility at their own pace and learn about the history of Lewisville. They also will be able pick up flyers, brochures, and maps to help familiarize themselves with attractions, restaurants, and hotels in Lewisville and Southern Denton County.
Unique to the Lewisville Visitor Information Center are three museum rooms. These rooms will highlight Lewisville’s Deep Roots, Arts & Culture, and the Fighting Farmers of Lewisville High School. Visitors will get to see artifacts from some of the biggest events that helped shape the early years of the city, along with more recent events. The exhibits are being developed in coordination with the Denton County Office of History & Culture.
The Visitor Information Center also is home to the administrative offices of the Community Relations and Tourism Department. Included in that department is the Lewisville Convention and Visitors Bureau. Employees in this building are responsible for booking and planning tourist events, festivals, and concerts; marketing those events and the city as a whole; and creating and updating the City website (cityoflewisville.com) and the Convention and Visitors Bureau website (visitlewisville.com).
Parking is available at the Visitor Information Center and in public lots in Old Town.
