“Thoroughly Modern Millie” to visit MCL Grand in Lewisville
The Acting Studio will present two performances of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” on Nov. 18-19 at Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, the latest in a growing string of quality musicals taking the stage at the city-run facility.

Shows start at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are $16 for adults, $13 for children ages 12 and younger. To order tickets, visit ActingStudioTX.tix.com or call 817.488.0009. Advance tickets cannot be purchased at MCL Grand.
“Thoroughly Modern Millie” is a high-spirited 1920s musical romp that took Broadway by storm in 2002 when it was adapted from the highly successful 1967 film starring Julie Andrews. The movie version, scripted by Richard Morris, was nominated for seven Academy Awards and five Golden Globes. The stage version features music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics by Dick Scanlan; it won six Tony Awards on Broadway, including Best Musical of 2002.

Taking place in New York City in 1922, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself, a life she hopes will include a wealthy husband. It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz – a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.

Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess whom audiences will love to hate, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment.

The Acting Studio is operated in Grapevine by owners Shane and Erica Peterman, both of whom are members of the Actors’ Equity Association with dozens of performing credits in the United States and Europe. Professional staff at The Acting Studio teach classes in voice, dance and acting for stage and film for students of all ages, including classes for younger children ages 3-7 up through adults. Students have the opportunity to perform in local shows as well as regional tours.

For information about The Acting Studio, call 817.488.0009 or visit www.ActingStudioTX.com.
