Water Conservation and Emergency Water Management Plan

The City of Lewisville has developed a Water Conservation and Emergency Water Management Plan to address both short term emergency situations and long term water conservation and water management issues. The plan was developed to meet the requirements of Texas Administrative Code Title 30, Environmental Quality, Chapter 288, Subchapter A and B and is divided into two sections: (1) Water Conservation and (2) Emergency Water Management. The objective of the conservation program is to identify strategies for controlling the consumption of water, for reducing the loss or waste of water, for maintaining or improving the efficient use of water, for increasing recycling and reuse of water, and for preventing the pollution of water. The emergency water management section addresses procedures for voluntary and mandatory actions to be put into effect to temporarily reduce the demand placed upon the City’s water supply and/or system during a water shortage due to drought or other water supply or system emergency. Drought contingency procedures include conservation measures, but may also include prohibition of certain water uses in critical situations.
