Wastewater Data and Reports

The City of Lewisville's Wastewater Treatment Plant is required to monitor both the Quantity and Quality of the water discharged to the receiving stream. Below you will find information on the Quantity or Average Daily Flow for each month. The measurement of the Quality of discharge to the receiving stream requires two tests which are synonymous with wastewater treatment. These are Biochemical Oxygen Demand or BOD and Total Suspended Solids or TSS.

Lewisville’s Wastewater Treatment Plant is permitted for an Average Daily Flow of 12 Million Gallons per Day. The numbers below reflect the Average Monthly Combined Flow. The Combined Flow includes treated water that is reused and the treated water that is discharged to the receiving stream.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant has a monthly permitted Biochemical Oxygen Demand or BOD value of 10 milligrams per liter (mg/L). BOD is a measure of the quality of the treated water. The greater the amount of waste material in the water, the higher the oxygen demand and the higher the BOD value measured. Incoming or untreated wastewater has an average BOD value of 240 mg/L. On average, the treatment process removes 98% of the BOD in the wastewater.

Total Suspended Solids or TSS is an additional measure of the quality of the treated water. Suspended solids are those that remain in solution and cannot easily be physically separated without biological treatment. The higher the Total Suspended Solids value measured the greater quantity of waste material in the water. Incoming or untreated wastewater has an average TSS value of 240 mg/L. On average the treatment process removes more than 99% of the TSS in the wastewater.
