      DESCRIPTIONS OF COMMON PROBLEMS
      AND HELPFUL TIPS

If you think there is a sewer stoppage, the first thing that you need to do is locate the cleanout, which is usually located in the flower bed near the front of the house. Check the cleanout to see if it is holding water. If it is not, then it is likely to be an internal problem. If it is holding water, then it might be a service line or main line stoppage. At that point you can contact the Utility Line Maintenance Division at (972) 219-3510. We do require that someone age 18 or older be present at the residence at the time the crew arrives because there is a consent form that needs to be signed for the City to clean the sewer line. In some instances, charges may apply. Please see the Fee Schedule for sewer line cleanings further down on this page for more information.

If you notice water coming up from the cracks in the street or sidewalk, there may be a main break. Please call the Utility Line Maintenance Division as soon as possible. Your assistance in the early detection of these leaks is greatly appreciated.

If you are experiencing low water pressure there are a few things that you can check. First, if you have a water filtration system, check to see if the filters are clean. If you do not have a filtration system, check the faucet screens to be sure that they are not clogged. If the low pressure is only on the hot water, this may indicated a problem with the hot water heater. If the low pressure is only in certain areas of the house, this may indicate an internal problem. Otherwise, there may be a problem with the pressure from the City line. Please call and a crew will be dispatched.

For calls regarding Water Billing please call 972-219-3440 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday to speak with a representative from Customer Service.
