COMMERCIAL TRASH AND RECYCLING PROGRAMS

    · Commercial trash service is franchised in Lewisville, and Waste Management, Inc. is the franchised service provider. · Commercial recycling is not franchised, so commercial establishments may arrange for recycling with any recycling company based on the type of materials they wish to recycle. Proof that materials are being recycled must be provided to the City upon request.

    · Businesses must have trash service a minimum of once per week. Trash must be contained to prevent littering, and appropriately sized containers must be used so that lids may remain closed on the containers and there is no excess material outside the container between collections. Overfilled containers will not be emptied if a safety hazard exists. Customer will be responsible for removing the excess.

    · Commercial customers are responsible for providing access to their trash and recycling containers.

    · Commercial customers are responsible for odor and insect control around containers.

    · All roll-off containers and dumpsters used for trash collection on commercial premises in Lewisville must be owned by Waste Management. This includes construction sites for residential units as well as commercial units. Recycling dumpsters and roll-offs may not be used to dispose of trash.

    · All trash generated within the city limits must be disposed at DFW Landfill located at 1601 Railroad Avenue.

    · Dumpsters and roll-offs shall not be placed on any sidewalk, street, or other public right of way. The containers must be placed solely on private property.

    · Commercial construction, remodel, and demolition materials must be collected in containers owned and operated by Waste Management, including roll-offs, frontload, or other containerized unit. All commercial construction, remodel, and demolition waste shall be disposed of at the DFW Landfill unless the material is delivered to a recycling facility.
