Trash can be set out in heavy duty trash bags or in trash cans with proper containment to prevent littering. Residents are required to place trash containers at the curb or alley collection location by 7 a.m. on the scheduled collection day. Containers should be removed from the curb or alley collection location within 24 hours of being emptied. Residents may not set out containers for trash that weigh more than 50 pounds when filled with waste. Yard Waste. Acceptable yard waste includes leaves, yard trimmings, garden debris, and small brush (less than four (4) inches in diameter) which results from residential landscaping maintenance. Yard waste must be cut to no more than four (4) foot lengths and bundled not to exceed 35 pounds in weight. This collection service is included in the basic monthly charge for services. Bulky Waste. Special Collection Services. Bulky waste or yard waste that exceeds the size and/or volume limitations described above will not be collected with regular trash or bulky waste. Stumps, roots, shrubs with intact root balls, and treated wood are not considered yard waste and will not be collected as such. Special collection services for these and similar items must be arranged directly with Waste Management. Payment for such services will be the responsibility of the resident. Prohibited Materials. Some materials are not appropriate for household trash collection (e.g., large amounts of liquids, personal medical waste, large appliances, hazardous wastes, etc.), and questions regarding proper disposal of these materials should be directed to Waste Management at 972-315-5400 or the City’s Environmental Programs Office at 972-219-3503.
