Spring 2008


Roleplaying: The Marathon--The Lewisville Public Library Teen Program presents this introduction to tabletop roleplaying. Fantasy, science fiction, gothic horror—these are only a handful of the stories awaiting you. You don’t need a computer, only your imagination. Create a character and learn to play some of the most popular roleplaying games on the market today.

Ongoing Programs

The Teen Writers Group meets 6:30-8:00 pm on the fourth Monday of each month.

January 28th – Sarah C. Jordan—Children’s book author whose first published work, The BossQueen, Little BigBark, and the Sentinel Pup, is both fun and heroic, just as she thinks good books ought to be.

February 25th - Betsy Haynes—Betsy's recently published three book Christmas series, The Santa Diaries, are her 77th, 78th and 79th books. Her 76th juvenile novel, The Dearly Departed, came out in April of 2007. Her husband, Jim, who is an author and an illustrator, has done the cover art for all four books. She's currently an on-line instructor for UCLA Extension in which she teaches both "Writing the Middle Grade Novel" and "Writing the Young Adult Novel".

March 24th - James Haynes, Illustrator

April 28th - Rose-Mary Rumbley—Speaker extraordinaire, humorist, writer for the Oak Cliff Tribune and other newspapers, and author of four books. She also appeared as Aunt Billy in the movie Paper Moon. Books include Dear Santa-Thanks for the Piano; The Unauthorized History of Dallas; Dallas, Too and What? No Chili: Meet Hot Shot and Visit Food Festivals over Texas.

Teen Role Playing Sessions are held 6:00-8:30 pm on the first and third Mondays of each month in the Teen Area. Aarghhhh!!! There’s going to be pirates. There’s going to be plunder. There’s going to be mystery and adventure. All presented by Tom Harrison, local game master. Even if you’ve never role played before, come try this fun, easy-to-learn adventure.
