On December 10, 1992, a meeting was held to discuss the possibility of developing a Teen Court in the City of Lewisville. Those in attendance were Council Members Ann Pomykal, and Cynthia White, Judge Darlene Whitten, Justice of the Peace Jean McFarling and City Secretary Marty Hendrix.
Following the meeting, research conducted and a report prepared to present to the City Council recommending a Teen Court be established in Lewisville. This report was presented to the Council at the spring retreat. As a result, the establishment of a Teen Court was made a top priority.
A resolution was adopted on September 12, 1994 for the establishment of Teen Court. The first Teen Court Session was held on Tuesday, October 11, 1994. In November, 2002, the Town of Flower Mound joined Teen Court to provide an option for youth defendants in their Municipal Court. |
