The City of Lewisville Parks and Leisure Services Department offers a wide variety of diversified opportunities throughout the community and strives to offer a high quality of life to all residents. The City maintains two libraries, two recreation centers, one senior center, as well as professionally maintained soccer, football, baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, swimming, and track facilities. There are aquatic parks located in two parks, along with 20 neighborhood parks that are located within residential areas, allowing a relaxed area for recreation and enjoyment. Lewisville strives to offer exciting and enjoyable special events for area residents year round by featuring entertainment, parades, and other special events.

From entry level to executive housing, Lewisville has the capability to provide for an assortment of housing needs. Lewisville is host to over twenty hotels, motels and extended stay facilities that offer service on all levels. Lodging in Lewisville is available for the business traveler, corporate executive, and any family vacation. Lewisville also enjoys the benefits of a wide variety of shopping opportunities. Vista Ridge Mall is conveniently located on IH35E and with 1,000,000 square feet of shopping, is one of the largest malls in the Dallas Metroplex area. Lewisville is also home to over fifteen shopping centers located throughout the City.

The Medical Center of Lewisville, licensed for 148 beds, provides a full range of medical services to the greater Lewisville community. Recently, the hospital completed a $72 million expansion, which included an additional 85 beds. The City of Lewisville is also served by a four-story, 65,000 square foot Trinity medical facility.

Because of the prime location and the features offered in and around the community, Lewisville is host to over 20 hotels, motels and extended stay facilities offering all levels of service. ENTERTAINMENT & RECREATION
:
The City of Lewisville operates 23 parks, a Senior Center, the Hedrick House, two recreation centers, two swimming pools, two libraries, ten soccer fields, thirteen baseball/softball fields and the Vista Ridge Amphitheater that seats 800 people which features outdoor concerts and activities. Lewisville is home to 3 private golf courses, several marinas and over 250 restaurants. Nestled between Lewisville Lake, a 29,700 acre lake, and Lake Grapevine, a 12,740 acre lake, Lewisville is a destination spot for Metroplex residents for all types of lake recreation. Both lakes have six million-plus vistors annually. A wide variety of professional sports teams are less than 30 miles away, including the NFL Dallas Cowboys, the MLB Texas Rangers, the NHL Dallas Stars, the NBA Dallas Mavericks, the MLS Dallas Burn and a host of professional drivers that visit and compete at the Texas Motor Speedway.

HEALTHCARE:
Lewisville is served by the HCA Lewisville Medical Center located in Old Town Lewisville. Currently, the hospital has 148 hospital beds and provides inpatient services including inpatient medical/surgical care, 24-hour emergency services, intensive care, rehabilitation services, a subacaute skilled care program, cancer treatment, behavioral healthcare services and a Comprehensive Wound Care Center. The Medical Center also provides a variety of outpatient services, women's & children's services, education programs and support groups. Outpatient services include day surgery, endoscopy/Gastro lab, wound care, diagnostic services, lithotripsy and cardiac rehabilitation phase I, II, III & IV. Women's & children's services include obstetics/gynecology, newborn nursery, labor/delivery/recovery (LDR) rooms, pediatrics/adolescent unit and a breast imaging center. The hospital has education programs on breastfeeding, maternity orientation, infant/child safety and CPR, pre-natal & post-partum erobics, hysterectomy class, prepared childbirth and sibling classes. Finally, the hospital provides suport groups for breast cancer, neonatal loss, diabetes and the loss of a child. Currently, the hospital is undergoing a $72 million dollar expansion and renovation project to improve and increase their current medical services and facilities. The expansion will increase parking spaces, almost double the number of existing hospital beds, add a neonatal intensive care unit and expand the existing women’s services unit.

SHOPPING:

Lewisville enjoys the benefits of a wide variety of shopping opportunities. Vista Ridge Mall is conveniently located at IH35E at Round Grove Road. Vista Ridge Mall has 1,000,000 sq.ft. of shopping, including anchor stores such as Dillard's, Foley's, J.C. Penney, and Sears, making it one of the largest malls in the north Dallas area. In addition, Vista Ridge Mall features beautiful atriums, a food court, a 12 screen movie theater, and over 160 specialty shops. Lewisville is also home to over 15 shopping centers located throughout the City including, Vista Ridge Village, Valley Square, Old Orchard East and West, and Lakeland Plaza Centers.

The Lewisville area provides a wide variety of history and cultural entertainment including:

OLD TOWN LEWISVILLE offers unique store fronts, some dating from the turn of the century, providing the setting for many antique shops and malls, boutiques, craft stores and art galleries. Restaurants in Old Town feature uniquely delicious menus graced with Old Town ambiance.

THE METROPLEX offers the symphony, jazz, opera, ballet, art galleries and museums including the Kimball Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Amon Carter Museum of Western Art, and the Museum of Science and History, and dramatic and musical theaters including the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, Bass Hall, Starplex and Fair Park.

THE WEST END HISTORIC DISTRICT, a National Register Historic District, is located in downtown Dallas drawing an estimated seven million people annually. The West End Historic District provides entertainment, retail, dining, housing and commerce in a historic setting.

THE FT. WORTH STOCKYARDS is rich in culture and entertainment dating back to the 1840's. Located 34 miles southwest of Lewisville in Fort Worth, the Stockyards were once the biggest sheep and hog marketing center in the Southwest. By maintaining the architectural integrity of the original structure, visitors are provided with an opportunity to experience the Old West at the Stockyards. More than 30 shops and restaurants are located at the Stockyards Station.
