    Women’s Bassmaster Tour returning to Lewisville on April 10-12
    The Women’s Bassmaster Tour will visit Lewisville Lake for the third time in four years when the 2008 season kicks off on April 10-12. Previous stops in Lewisville included a preview event in October 2005, won by Pam Martin-Wells, and a 2006 regular-season event in May 2006, won Dianna Clark, the 2006 Toyota WBT Angler of the Year.

    Keep Lewisville Beautiful will hold its 22nd annual Spring Clean Up event on Saturday, April 12, in conjunction with Keep Texas Beautiful Trash Off and Keep America Beautiful Great American Clean Up.


    Cinco de Mayo festival moving to Main Street for 2008
    Lewisville’s sixth annual Cinco de Mayo will be held Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Main Street in the heart of Old Town Lewisville.

    Lewisville City Council aims for May referendum on smoking ban
    The Lewisville City Council tonight directed city staff to prepare documents for a possible non-binding referendum in May 2008 that would ask voters to offer their views on possible smoking bans at local restaurants and bars.

    FLW to bring Bass Fishing League to Lewisville Lake
    FLW Outdoors will return to Lewisville Lake on March 2008 to hold a one-day qualifying tournament in the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League series. Up to 400 anglers will split a total prize purse of $45,000 in the event, scheduled for March 8.

    Lewisville names new Economic Development Director
    City Manager Claude King announced this week that Nika Reinecke, a former Lewisville employee currently working for the City of Keller, who been hired as the city’s new Economic Development Director effective Nov. 12.


    Eater X smashes tamale-eating world record at Western Day
    Tim “Eater X” Janus destroyed the world tamale-eating record by consuming 71 tamales in 12 minutes to win the World Tamale Eating Championship today in Lewisville.


    Lewisville City Council opts against November election on smoking ban
    he Lewisville City Council decided tonight not to hold a Nov. 6 election that would have let voters consider a proposed smoking ban at local restaurants and bars, opting to study the issue further with the possibility of holding an election next year. The council scheduled an Oct. 15 work session to review draft ordinance language and consider holding a May 13, 2008, election, either placing an ordinance up for voter consideration or asking for a non-binding referendum on the possible smoking ban.

    National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship returns to Lewisville
    Eighty-one two-person teams representing more than 40 colleges nationwide have registered for the second BoatUS National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship, scheduled for Sept. 27-29 at Lewisville Lake. The event, presented by Fox College Sports, is capped at 100 teams.


    Eater X seeks to regain tamale title in Lewisville on Sept. 1
    Tim Janus, who shattered the world record by eating 51 tamales in 12 minutes at last year’s World Tamale Eating Championship in Lewisville, will attempt to reclaim his record on Sept. 1 against a field featuring five of the top-30 eaters in the world. The event, organized by the Lewisville Convention and Visitors Bureau and officially sanctioned by the International Federation of Competitive Eating, is being held in conjunction with the Western Day festival in Old Town Lewisville.

    National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship returning to Lewisville
    Fox College Sports and the National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship will return to Lewisville Lake on Sept. 27-29, culminating an expanded schedule of preliminary events to determine the 2007 national champions. BoatUS is again the title sponsor for the tournament.


    "Sounds of Lewisville" fall concerts set for Old Town
    Five top regional acts have been scheduled for the “Sounds of Lewisville” Fall Concert Series, presented for the 18th consecutive year by the City of Lewisville.     Lewisville Fire Department amends lake response plan
    Due to the increased volume of lake traffic and boater calls for assistance, the Lewisville Fire Department will no longer provide non-emergency responses on Lewisville Lake, although the department will continue responding to all emergency calls.


    Lewisville names Russ Kerbow new chief of police
    City Manager Claude King announced that William Russell (Russ) Kerbow, who has been serving as acting police chief since March 1, has been selected for the permanent post as head of the Lewisville Police Department.
