Lewisville Lake Symphony presents classic blend on March 30
Musical genres will collide when Classic Collision Trio, an international team of three musicians, performs in the Lewisville Lake International Chamber Music Series on Saturday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound.
The recital is free, but a donation to the Symphony is suggested. The series is presented in cooperation with the University of North Texas.
Trio members are pianist Janice Fehlauer of Canada, Bulgarian-born violinist Veronika Vassileva, and cellist Eric Smith, a German native listing in the United States. They will perform pieces by Ravel, Piazzolla and Schoenfield, whose works reflect a blend of classical composition and stronger dance and jazz rhythms.
“I think that ‘a classical collision’ perfectly conveys the idea of their unique and individual musical languages,” said Fehlauer of the selected composers.
This is the final recital in this season’s International program. The highly acclaimed series has featured artists from Japan, China, Taiwan, Russia, Germany, Canada and the United States. The recitals have gained a reputation for featuring rising stars who are polishing their talents in the UNT graduate program. The 2007-2008 season will start in September.
For more information on the March 30 recital, please visit www.lewisvillesymphony.org or call (972) 874-9086.
The Lewisville Lake Symphony is one of Texas’ most respected, all-professional regional orchestras. For information, call (972) 874-9087 or visit www.lewisvillesymphony.org. It is one of five local groups receiving funding from the Greater Lewisville Arts Council through a City of Lewisville grant program designed to foster cultural and fine arts in the community.
