Mayor and City Council

The City of Lewisville is governed by a six-member City Council striving to provide the residents of Lewisville with excellent services and quality of life. There are five voting members and a mayor, who only votes in the case of a tie.

City Council terms of office are for three years, and all members are elected at large. Elections are held on the first Saturday of May each year, with two council spots on each year’s ballot.

Those interested in serving on the City Council must be at least 18 years old, a resident of the City of Lewisville for at least the past year, and a qualified registered voter of the city.

The Mayor and Council meet in regular session on the first and third Mondays of each month, except when holidays require a change in the schedule in January, July and September. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 151 W. Church Street. There is a pre-council workshop in the Council Conference room adjacent to the Council Chambers which usually begins at 6:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.

The regular Council meetings are taped and rebroadcast on City Cable LVTV, the City’s Cable Access Channel. Click for a schedule of programs.

Agendas for the Council meetings are posted on this web site and at City Hall prior to the meetings. Minutes also are available on this web site following each meeting.

For information about how to place an item on the agenda, please contact City Secretary Julie Heinze at 972-219-3411.
