The Actors Conservatory Theatre, noted as an exemplary organization by the prestigious Meadows Foundation, is a volunteer driven, nonprofit children's theatre by children and for children, presenting family oriented musicals every Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring, since it was originally founded in 1999. The ACT is dedicated to bringing classic literature to young minds through theatre and is also home to two noteworthy performing troupes, “High School Company” for those over 13, and “Wings”, a theatre arts group for 10-13 year olds. During the six or seven week rehearsal period for each musical production, children not only learn theatre arts but also learn about the authors and their works. Children as young as three are eligible to participate and no experience is necessary. Audition dates are announced throughout the year through the school district and local papers. Any child who auditions receives a role. Children must be in kindergarten during the school year but children as young as three are eligible to participate in the “Annual Children’s Summer Musical” held during each summer vacation.
