Our mission at the Lewisville Police Department is to work in partnership with the community to protect life and property. maintain order and enforce the law.

Efficient and effective accomplishment of the department mission are facilitated by:
  • the grouping of functionally related tasks within appropriate Department units;
  • the delegation of clearly defined responsibility and authority in specific areas of activity;
  • the provision of a specific and appropriate chain of command;
  • the resolution of differences and decision making at the lowest possible level of authority;
  • the coordination of complementary functions of internal units to prevent divisive conflicts or duplication of efforts and
  • emphasizing community service and customer relations.
These concepts are not exclusive. The Lewisville Police Department shall continually seek new and better ways of serving the public through innovation.

About Lewisville:


Lewisville is a progressive, urban community located 26 miles northwest of downtown Dallas along Stemmons Freeway (Interstate 35E). Lewisville is located in southeast Denton County, one of the fastest growing counties in the state, and has a population of 91, 550. The city is situated in one of the most dynamic growth areas in the nation. The City encompasses over 42 square miles, and its largest amenity--Lewisville Lake--covers 30,000 acres. Lewisville has a council manager form of government and a $92 million dollar operating budget.

State Highway 121 bisects the community and gives Lewisville easy access to the Dallas/Ft. Worth International airport, the second busiest airport in the world. DFW International is located just ten minutes south of Lewisville. Lewisville is less that four flying hours from every major market in the U.S. Due to our excellent geographical position, Lewisville is easily accessible to all parts of the Metroplex, Texas, U.S., and the world.

Lewisville is nestled between two beautiful lakes - the 30,000 acre Lewisville Lake and the 12,740 acre Lake Grapevine. Both lakes are major recreational lakes for Metroplex residents with each receiving six million-plus visitors annually. Lewisville Lake is also the source for its water supply.

The Lewisville Police Department is authorized 138 police and 63 civilian positions.
