Lewisville Animal Shelter and Adoption Center The ground-breaking ceremony for the new Animal Shelter and Adoption Center was held on June 8, at the construction site, 995 E. Valley Ridge across from the north entrance of Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park. The new 14,000-square-foot facility will be nestled on 2.5 acres near the banks of the Trinity River and will be roughly three times the size of the city's current animal shelter. Special features will include two get-to-know rooms for potential adopters, two outdoor get-to-know courtyards, indoor and outdoor dog runs, cat colony room, grooming room and training room. The project was designed by Quorum Architects of Fort Worth. City Council awarded a construction contract last month to Modern Contractors of Bedford. The center is expected to open late spring or early summer of 2012.  Rendering of Outside of the Building
