Lewisville Receives Strong National, State Rankings as “Place to Live”
Lewisville has been ranked among the 100 best small cities in the country by Money magazine, and among the top 25 North Texas suburbs by D Magazine, in recent articles published by each magazine.
In the Money list, printed in the magazine’s August issue and jointly released with CNN, Lewisville was ranked 69th among “Best Places to Live.” This year’s list focused on cities with between 50,000 and 300,000 residents. According to the magazine, cities that made the rankings had the best blend of good jobs, low crime, quality schools, plenty of green space, reasonable home prices and local attractions. Texas had 13 cities on the list, including 10 in North Texas.
According to the magazine: “Lake Lewisville, the northern border of this charming little city, is a favorite destination for families who enjoy water sports, fishing (this is Texas' urban bass fishing capital), and acres of scenic parks and trails protected for camping, hiking and biking. The city also offers safe and affordable neighborhoods and diverse business opportunities. One downside: a commute to Dallas can be lengthy. But Lewisville and its immediate environs offer plenty of dining and shopping.”
In the D Magazine biannual list, reported in its July issue, Lewisville moved up 10 spots to rank 25th among North Texas suburbs. The rankings were based on four factors – safety, education, housing values and ambiance. Specific data used included such things as student test scores, crime rate and air pollution index.
