Teens between the ages of 13 and 17 or are still in high school, who attend LISD schools or reside in the greater Lewisville area are eligible to become volunteers in the program. Potential volunteers often attend volunteer training in August or March, or attend a court session to observe courtroom proceedings. Volunteer applications and manuals are available at court. Upon completion of the application, teens are asked to sign a Volunteer Agreement which details the responsibilities and expectations of the Teen Court program. Applications are also available at the Municipal Annex at the Teen Court office. Call the Teen Court office at (972) 219-3671 or e-mail: adubinsk@cityoflewisville.com to request an application or to find out the next court date. A list of upcoming court dates is posted on this website.
Volunteer positions available at Teen Court are: prosecuting and defense attorney, judge (requires special training), juror, bailiff, and court clerk. Most volunteers begin by serving as a juror and, if desired, can move on to other duties at their own pace.
