Holiday Policy

Purpose

To provide all regular, full-time employees with paid days off from work to observe national or state holidays.

Summary

Eligibility/Accrual:
  • Immediately - As Holidays Occur
  • Employees Working in Shift Divisions, May Be Required To Work Holiday, Holiday Will Be Accrued to Be Taken Later

    Notification:
  • Human Resources Will Publish Schedule Prior to the Start Of Each Year

    Days Per Year:
  • New Year’s Day - January 1
  • Martin Luther King’s Birthday - 3rd Monday in January
  • Memorial Day - Last Monday in May
  • Independence Day - July 4
  • Labor Day/September 11th - 1st Monday in September
  • Thanksgiving Day - Last Thursday in November
  • Day After Thanksgiving - Last Friday in November
  • Christmas Eve - December 24
  • Christmas Day - December 25
    *September 11th for all Sworn Fire personnel and Labor Day for all other employees

    NOTE:
  • If the holiday falls on a Saturday, the holiday is observed on prior Friday.
  • If holiday falls on a Sunday, the holiday is observed on following Monday.
