The Friends organization has been awarded two Verizon Foundation grants for books, media and technology for the new library. They have also received grants from Target, SAM's Club, and Wal-Mart.

“The Alphabet Chair” Bronze Art Project
The Friends group recently donated "The Alphabet Chair" bronze sculpture to the Cynthia Bennett Children's Wing of the Library.

“The Alphabet Chair” is a celebration of language, art, and community. Each letter in “The Alphabet Chair” has its own individual texture imprinted from nature or objects. For example, “A” is for “Animals,” “B” is for “Buttons,” and “C” is for “Coral.” Children of all ages enjoy sitting in the chair and solving the mystery of each letter’s origins.
Used Book Sale
The Friends hold a used book sale two times a year. The next book sale will be Saturday, February 11, 2012, 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday, February 12, 2012, 1:00-5:00pm.
