      ELECTRICITY PROVIDERS
Electric deregulation began in Texas Jan. 1, 2002 as a result of Texas Senate Bill 7. Electric deregulation allows residential and business customers to select from a variety of companies called “Retail Energy Providers” (REPs) for their electricity. Current customers of Texas-New Mexico Power may switch to a new REP. Customers of Co-Serv will not be able to switch at this time, as Co-Serv has not opted-in to participate in deregulation. More information regarding retail electric providers (REPs) in Lewisville and on deregulation can be found on the State’s website: www.powertochoose.org. The State also has a toll-free phone number for assistance: 866-797-4839.
