CITY MANAGER’S WEEKLY UPDATE Clements Honored by TxDOT for DWI Enforcement Lewisville Police Officer Chris Clements recently was named the Texas Department of Transportation’s “Impaired Driving Enforcement Officer of the Year” (for an agency with 51 to 300 officers) at a ceremony in San Antonio. Clements is one of two dedicated DWI/Traffic Officers in Lewisville. He volunteered for work hours that make him available during the time and days that most intoxicated drivers are on the road. Clements has been in this position since January 2007. Since then, he has made more than 620 DWI arrests. He recently arrested 24 intoxicated drivers during a 17-day period. Clements works all of the state’s Impaired Driving Mobilization grant periods, often arresting two DWI offenders in one night of enforcement. Since 2007, Clements has worked 18 grant mobilization periods, logging more than 191 hours of enforcement. Earlier this year, Clements was officially recognized by TMPA for being the officer with the most DWI LEADRS reports in 2010. In 2010, Clements made a total of 138 DWI arrests. Clements was the first officer in Texas to log more than 500 arrests using the LEADRS reporting system. Clements trains Lewisville PD personnel in his area of specialization. He trained all Lewisville officers in the use of the LEADRS system. He trains all new officers in the Department's mini-academy on the use of the LEADRS system and in DWI investigation. When at work, Clements is regularly called upon to assist other officers with DWI-related questions.
