Nonprofit Agency Round Table Held
On Friday, March 12, 2010, Youth & Family Counseling hosted 23 guests representing 13 different nonprofit organizations at an Agency Round Table. The City of Lewisville organizes the Round Tables to offer local agencies an informal forum for discussion, networking, and collaboration. Agencies represented were Denton Housing Authority, Dept. of Assistive & Rehab Services, Youth & Family Counseling, Health Services of North Texas, Greater Lewisville Cares, Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County, Christian Community Action (CCA), Ready Start, Inc., Boys & Girls Clubs of Denton County, Denton County Friends of the Family, US Census Bureau, Keep Lewisville Beautiful, and the City of Lewisville grant staff.

Dana Slater, Executive Director of Youth & Family Counseling, informed the group about their First-time Offenders and Family Counseling programs as well as their history and successes. Guests also learned about the 2010 Census and discussed the need for comprehensive services for disadvantaged youth such as programs provided by Boys & Girls Clubs. The meeting concluded with each agency providing announcements of upcoming events.

The next Agency Round Table is tentatively scheduled to be hosted by Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County in July.
