MCL Grand to Welcome Webber Classic “Joseph”
The debut season of Lewisville Summer Musicals will continue July 3-4 with three performances of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ,” presented by Texas Family Musicals at the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater.

Ticket prices for individual shows are $35, $33 and $28, depending on the seating. Discounts are available for groups of 12 or more. Tickets can be purchased through Texas Family Musicals at its website, www.Texasfamilymusicals.com. For information, call 800.547.4697.

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was the first British musical theater show written by the team of Webber and Tim Rice, later drawing raves during a lengthy Broadway run. The story is based on the Biblical story of Joseph and features some of Broadway’s best-loved songs.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3; and 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday, July 4. This is a change from the schedule originally announced, adding a Monday evening performance and removing a Sunday matinee.

Another schedule change has been announced for the Lewisville Summer Musicals season, with “Annie Get Your Gun” now being presented four times on July 22-24. “Annie Get Your Gun” was successfully revived on Broadway last year. It takes the place of “Oklahoma” on the Lewisville lineup.

“Annie Get Your Gun,” with lyrics and music written by Irving Berlin, is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley, who was a sharpshooter from Ohio, and her husband, Frank Butler. Songs that became hits include “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Doin’ What Comes Natur’lly,” “You Can’t Get a Man With a Gun,” “They Say It’s Wonderful” and “Anything You Can Do.”

Other shows in the Lewisville Summer Musicals lineup are “Hello Dolly” on Aug. 5-7; and “The Night the Music Died” on Aug. 13-14.

CDBG Advisory Committee makes spending recommendations.
The Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee has finalized its recommendations for awarding CDBG funds from the federal government and City Social Service Agency Funds from the City's general fund. Non-profit agencies submitted applications and made presentations to the committee in March. The committee scored, ranked and considered proposals for 19 social service programs and five housing or community development projects (see below).

During that process, the City received a preliminary allocation from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) showing a 15% cut in Lewisville's CDBG funding. The City will receive $537,931from the CDBG program plus the City can re-allocate $180,000 from prior year unspent funds. Pending City Council approval, the City's Social Service Agency Fund can provide $170,000. The City Council approved the proposed CDBG budget at their June 20 meeting.
