Big Bass Tour brings North Texas Classic to Lewisville Lake
Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Weekend anglers will have a chance at some pro-style fishing prizes when Big Bass Tour brings the Ego Energy Drink North Texas Classic to Lewisville Lake on Sept. 27-28.

The event, which will be based at Lewisville Lake Park, pays cash prizes to the angler who weighs in with the largest bass each hour of the competition, with larger prizes available for the top overall catches. Amateur anglers will compete for a combined purse of more than $100,000 in cash and prizes, including a 2008 Nissan Titan VS Crew Cab Truck for the largest single catch of the weekend.

Big Bass has held a similar event on Lake Conroe for several years, but is making its North Texas debut with the Lewisville event.

“In the last several years, this fishery has hosted several professional events as well as the National Collegiate Bass
Fishing Championship,” said Mark Jones, vice president of business development for Big Bass. “During those events this lake has yielded some very large bass, and we believe that there’s no better place to promote the sport of bass fishing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex."

The first day of the tournament is being held in conjunction with Lewisville’s annual Western Day festival, which features a full day of music, food, Western re-enactments, car show, pet contests, parade and the World Tamale Eating Championship. Also at the festival, Big Bass is sponsoring the KidFish Catch Tank where children can try their hand at competitive angling in a portable fishing pond that is stocked with adult channel catfish ranging from 2 to 5 pounds each.

A portion of receipts from the North Texas Classic will benefit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation and KidFish.

Anglers can register for the classic on-line at www.bigbasstour.com or at any of the 14 Hooters locations in North Texas. Special registration days will be held at Bass Pro Shops in Garland (Sept. 24, 4-10 p.m.) and Grapevine (Sept. 25, 4-10 p.m.) and at Hooters in Lewisville (Sept. 26, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.). ESPN radio, 103.3, will be at the Lewisville registration event from 4 to 6 p.m.

Sponsors of the Ego Energy Drink North Texas Classic include Ego Energy Drink, Carrot Stix Fishing Rods, Avery Johnson's North Texas Nissan, Legend Boats, Hooters, 103.3 ESPN Radio, Wired2Fish, Gemini Sport Marketing, Bass Pro Shops, Power-Pole, 99.5 The Wolf, Fun-n-Sun Boats, Fellers, Splash Magazine and Complete Graphic Solutions.
