A Shift

BC Cunningham and FIT Freed

On behalf of the 36 members of A Shift, it is my privilege to welcome you to our Web Page. My name is Jerry Cunningham, and I serve as the Battalion Chief for A Shift.

Like any family, the different shifts of the Lewisville Fire Department have distinctly different personalities and character traits. Ours might best be described as the “type A” personality. We are a very close-knit group who take enormous pride in the services we provide to the citizens of Lewisville, working in dangerous environments and unpredictable situations on a daily basis.

A-shift had the distinction of having two of its members honored at our yearly Banquet: Firefighter/Paramedic Gordon Smith received the honor of being named Firefighter of the Year and Firefighter/Paramedic Gregory Rohr received the honor of being named Paramedic of the year for 2007.

Receiving their service pins in 2007 are:

15 Years
Firefighter/Paramedic John Copeland
Driver/Engineer/Paramedic Robert Odom

10 Years
Firefighter/Paramedic Timothy McCulley
Firefighter/Paramedic Michael Vo

5 Years
Firefighter/Paramedic Michael McComis

All of the members of A Shift would like to extend an invitation to the citizens of Lewisville to stop by one of the six fire houses in your neighborhood and get to know us. We look forward to meeting you.

B Shift

BC Wells and FIT Lawler

Hello, and thanks for stopping by and visiting with B-Shift. I am Jerry Wells and I have the privilege of being the B-Shift Battalion. We have a rank structure that includes Firefighters, Driver Engineers, and Captains. We have many different personalities and character traits that help us give you the very best service.

Our personnel are very compassionate and caring. We strive to go the extra mile and treat each person or call, as we would want to “B” treated. B-shift truly treats each call for service as if we were treating one of our own family members.

We have given several of our people Recognition of Service Awards in 2007. For 20 Years of Service: Captain Darrel Hall; for 15 Years of Service: Firefighter Glen Ewing; Driver/Engineers Christopher Lawler, Seth Taylor and Christopher Trail and Captains Donald Scarborough and Mark McNeal; for 10 years of Service, Firefighter William Sanford and for 5 years of Service; Firefighters Christopher Hill, Eric Lane and James Moore. Congratulations to all these members for their commitment and dedication.

Battalion Chief Jerry Wells was honored as Officer of the Year for 2007

B-shift also has the privilege of teaching school kids about fire safety through the Clown Program. Special thanks to Captain Huffman and his family, and reserves Brian Jarvis, and Jeff Christenson for taking the time to teach the children about fire safety. These members have given the extra effort including training and time developing this program.

I’m also very pleased to let you know that our experience level is of varying degrees. We have employee’s ranging from new recruit to 30+ years of service. I rely heavily on the more tenured firefighters to help mentor and pass along experience to the newer ones.

We have a great group of people here to help mitigate your emergency, whatever it may be. We hope we meet you at the grocery store, your child’s school, or doing a tour/demonstration, but should you need us for emergency response rest assured we will give you our very best. Feel free to stop by and visit any one of our firehouses. We would enjoy the opportunity to meet you and tell you more about our profession.

C Shift

BC Kohn and FIT Feldpausch

Hi, my name is Gregory Kohn and I have the good fortune to be assigned as the Battalion Commander for C Shift. All of us on C Shift are proud to be members of this great Department. We are equally proud to be members of the team that forms C Shift. A historical review of the fire service would reveal that C Shift has been known as the misfit shift. However, the personnel assigned to C Shift for the Lewisville Fire Department clearly do not fit this mold. This group of men could best be described as a diverse, dedicated, and talented group that brings a variety of assets to the team. The very foundation of our team is built on pride, honor, and integrity. You can see these values reflected in our men each and every day.

Firefighter/Paramedic Phillip Megee was recognized as Rookie of the Year for 2007. We are very proud of him as well as the rest of our C Shift family.

Members recognized for Years of Service in 2007 were:

15 Years
Driver/Engineer Gary Feldpausch
Captain Thomas Mack

10 Years
Firefighter Brett Decker
Driver/Engineer Thomas Insinna
Driver/Engineer Brent Reaves
Driver/Engineer Damion Roberts
Captain John Peltier

There are countless acts of duty that deserve commendation from brother and sister firefighters at the Lewisville Fire Department and around the country. I am certain that my bias as a C Shifter at the Lewisville Fire Department tends to make me think that I work with the best of them all.
