Assistant Chief Galler commands the Operations Bureau. The Operations Bureau includes the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and the Tactical Unit. Chief Galler began his career with the Lewisville Police Department as a patrol officer in 1974 and rose through the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant and captain to his current position. Chief Galler received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Abilene Christian University at Dallas and holds a Master’s Peace Officer License. He is a graduate of the Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute’s School of Command and Management and the FBI National Academy.
Patrol Division
The Patrol Division responds to calls for service and provides a wide variety of police services. Commanded by Captain Todd Taylor, the Patrol Division provides 24-hour service, 365 days a year through four patrol shifts. A Traffic Unit is also assigned to the Patrol Division.
In order to provide a balanced and timely response to calls for service as well as preventative patrol, the City is divided into four geographic patrol districts. Each district is made up of several beats and staffed according to current crime trends and calls for police service.
Criminal Investigation Division
The Criminal Investigation Division, commanded by Captain Kevin Deaver, provides crime scene support and follow-up investigation on all open cases. Criminal Investigations is divided into Crimes Against Property, General Investigations, and Narcotics. Additionally, the Neighborhood Resource Officer Program, School Resource Officer Program, Directed Patrol Unit and a Gang Intelligence Officer are attached to the Criminal Investigation Division.
