Assistant Chief Galler

Assistant Chief Galler commands the Community Services Bureau. The Community Services Bureau includes the Criminal Investigations Division, Special Operations/Community Relations, and the Jail. Chief Galler began his career with the Lewisville Police Department as a patrol officer in 1974 and rose through the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant and captain to his current position. Chief Galler received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Abilene Christian University at Dallas and holds a Master’s Peace Officer License. He is a graduate of the Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute’s School of Command and Management and the FBI National Academy.

Criminal Investigation Division

The Criminal Investigation Division, commanded by Captain Kevin Deaver, provides crime scene support and follow-up investigation on all open cases. Criminal Investigations has been assigned one Lieutenant, two Sergeants, seventeen Detectives, and one Crime Scene Technician. This Division consists of Crimes Against Property, Crimes Against Persons, Juvenile Crimes and Crime Scene.

Jail Division

The division has one Lieutenant, and fifteen non-sworn Detention Officers (DOs) who staff the front desk and jail 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These employees assist the public at the desk by taking police reports, giving information, and other types of customer service. DOs staff the jail around the clock to provide supervision and custody of prisoners in the municipal holding facility.

Special Operations / Community Relations

The Special Operations Section is made up of the Neighborhood Resource Officers, School Resource Officers, and the Special Investigations Unit (Narcotics/Vice, Street Crimes, and Gang Intelligence).

Special Operations Van

The Special Operations Van is a community based command center. The center is a 30' Winnebago that has been specially designed and equipped to assist department personnel in delivering quality services to our community. The center is designed to assist the department at a variety of community events along with being a "home base" to personnel during critical incidents as they occur throughout our community. Please feel free to stop by at any community based event where you see the van for a quick tour.
